Lunch Box Idea: Shelled peas and popcorn

Melissa & Kelsey love popcorn and today for a bit of variety I popped it into a brown paper bag another cheap lunch box idea. The popcorn is air popped and drizzled with cold pressed olive oil and seasoned with some of Mary-ann's seasoning salt. I could pack a bag of popcorn everyday and my girls would love it but alas there would be no more inspirational ideas for the rest of you, so they generally have popcorn once maybe twice a week.Today they also had a box of CERES juice instead of there regular water bottle. I also packed in some shelled peas which I packed into plastic bank bags, some strawberries, orange segments and some raisins. (Opt for non-oiled raisins and check that they are preservative free).

On a stick: Fruit Kebabs

Today I chopped up kiwi fruit and orange segments and threaded them on a stick. The girls thoroughly enjoyed these, always amazes me how children think that the taste of food changes when you change the shape. I also found some boxed rice crackers at the spar free of sugar and other additives. These are exclusive to spar but not readily available and I have been unable to find them again. I have asked my local Spar to source them for me and will let you know as soon as they are in stock. The girls love these and they are wonderful to include in their lunchboxes be careful of the regular rice crackers which all supermarkets stock though as they are loaded with additives

Lunchbox Ideas: Gluten Free Banana Muffin

Quick and easy lunchbox ideas: To replace the sugar laden version we baked some gluten free banana muffins. These look and taste almost like the real thing. They also freeze wonderfully and are great to have when you need a quick lunchbox filler. I also added some chopped papino, strawberries and fiji apples. Remember to send plastic spoons and colourful serviettes to school this all adds interest. Melissa and friends have daily lunchbox competitions to see who brings the most exciting lunchboxes to school, she always complains that she never wins these.... why do everyone elses children want to eat your childs lunchbox but not them?
