Lunchbox: Carob dipped toffee apples

For todays lunchbox idea I dipped this baby red apple in some melted carob and inserted an ice-cream stick in the centre to resemble a toffee apple. A big hit with the kids. I splurged out and filled the lunchboxes with some decadent blackberries, strawberries and cherries a real crowd pleaser. I have also discovered these nifty nut prepacks which the girls are also enjoying.

Lunchboxes: Setting the christmas spirit

Today I decided to include a bit of festive cheer in the girls lunchboxes and set the tone in preparation for the christmas holidays. I found some delightful father christmas snack picks at Woollies and quickly added them to my trolley. I also invested in some christmas shaped cookie cutters, which transformed their regular pineapple slices into marvellous christmas trees and stars. I skewered apricot and peach chunks onto the snack picks, prepared some watermelon cupcakes and wrapped up some wholewheat muesli and banana chip bread in a funky christmas serviette for some added festive cheer.

The Lunchbox: Butternut and chickpea veggie burger

Today is Friday and a real treat awaits the girls when they open the lunchbox today. Yes, I have packed a hamburger! Couldn't find any wholewheat rolls at the shops in my haste yesterday afternoon, so I opted for brown burger buns, slapped on some cucumber, lettuce and a butternut and chickpea pattie and voila. I also included some guava rings and peach halves to fill the gaps.

Kiwi Ice cream Lunchbox

Melissa and Kelsey both devoured their kiwi ice cream lunchbox. I also included some pineapple flowers, peach halves and one of Mary-ann's halva bars. A must for any grocery cupboard, simply reach for one when you are pressed for time or lacking creativity.
